The crux of it is this: Approx. 100rpm loss of lag. Improved throttle response. Better economy. Less smoke. Downside is, loss of anti-stall valve which will allow the engine to shudder on shutdown, and can take longer to warm up on a cold day. IMHO and many others, the benefits outweigh the downsides. .
EGR Fault Code Mk5 Golf 1.9 TDI. I'll replace the EGR valve for handiness, though am I right in saying that there are another couple of parts related to the EGR

Nate_G. 1000 posts · Joined 2013. #8 · Jul 24, 2014 (Edited by Moderator) Take off the pipe on the bottom of the egr that goes to the manifold (2 allen bolts). Be sure to catch the gasket (metal and reusable), once that's out of the way you can easily get to the 3rd allen bolt.

I had a similar issue a couple of months ago on a MK5 1.9 TDI 2008, turned out to be the fuel pump. Removed EGR pipe to the valve and blocked the pipe using 50
Got a 2005 1.9 TDI with the BKC engine. First had problems with the EGR valve and now the cooler. So bypassed the cooler and blanked the EGR to make the reliability a bit better. Looking for someone that can remove the EGR from the ECU so i wont get an EML on. Car is not needed every day so can post the ECU. Anyone out there that can do this ?
